STM32F401 / STM32F411 Black Pill Development Board — ARM Cortex-M4
The Black Pill runs a Cortex-M4 with FPU — either the STM32F401CCU6 (84MHz, 256KB flash) or STM32F411CEU6 (100MHz, 512KB flash) depending on variant — on a board form-compatible with the Blue Pill but with USB-C and 25MHz crystal for reliable USB operation. The Cortex-M4 adds hardware floating-point and DSP instructions absent from the Blue Pill's Cortex-M3, making it suited for audio DSP, motor control, and signal processing tasks that stress the M3.
- Cortex-M4 with FPU — hardware floating-point at 84MHz (F401) or 100MHz (F411)
- F401: 256KB flash, 64KB SRAM / F411: 512KB flash, 128KB SRAM
- USB-C connector — USB Full Speed 12Mbps
- 25MHz crystal — reliable USB enumeration
- SWD header — ST-Link V2 debug
- BOOT0 button — easier DFU entry than jumper

Is the Black Pill compatible with Blue Pill libraries?
Mostly yes. The STM32duino board support covers both F401 and F411 via the generic STM32F4xx target. Libraries that use hardware-specific STM32F1 registers need porting; libraries using STM32duino's standard Arduino API work directly. The F4xx pin mapping differs from the F1xx — check your pin assignments when migrating a Blue Pill project.
Best for
Audio DSP and FFT processing, motor FOC control, USB HID and MIDI devices, floating-point sensor fusion, MicroPython (using the STM32 port), and any project that has outgrown the Blue Pill's Cortex-M3.
