GY-271 QMC5883L 3-Axis Digital Compass Module for Robotics and Drones
The GY-271 (QMC5883L) is a 3-axis magnetometer module that measures the Earth's magnetic field over I2C, providing heading data for compass and drone orientation applications. The QMC5883L chip outputs 16-bit resolution on each axis at sample rates up to 200Hz, with a magnetic field range of +/-8 Gauss — suitable for compass heading as well as detecting nearby magnets and ferrous objects. The module operates at 3.3V or 5V logic with onboard pull-up resistors.

Is the QMC5883L compatible with HMC5883L libraries?
Not directly — the register map and I2C address differ. Use the QMC5883L library by keepworking_kk from the Arduino Library Manager, which supports the QMC5883L specifically. The HMC5883L is discontinued; the QMC5883L is the current alternative for new designs.
