GPIO Sensor Extension Board for Raspberry Pi Pico

This GPIO extension board breaks out all 40 pins of the Raspberry Pi Pico into labelled male and female headers, giving immediate breadboard and dupont cable access to every GPIO, power, and ground pin without hunting through a pinout diagram. The board accepts 7–12V DC on its barrel jack, which it converts to 5V for the VSYS pin and a dedicated 5V rail — the Pico’s onboard regulator then supplies 3.3V to the 3.3V rail and all GPIO logic. Mounting holes in each corner allow secure installation inside an enclosure.

  • All 40 Pico pins broken out — labelled with GPIO numbers and functions
  • 7–12V DC barrel jack input — onboard regulator feeds 5V to Pico VSYS
  • 3.3V and 5V rails exposed — both clearly labelled at the board edge
  • Male and female headers both provided — connects to dupont cables or breadboard directly
  • Mounting holes in four corners — M3 compatible

Does the Raspberry Pi Pico plug into this board directly?

Yes, if your Pico has headers soldered. The extension board has a female socket that accepts the Pico’s 40-pin male header. A Pico without headers soldered requires soldering before use — headerless Pico boards cannot plug in directly.

Does the 3.3V rail work without a Pico installed?

No. The 3.3V rail is supplied by the Pico’s own voltage regulator. Without a Pico plugged in, the 5V rail is powered but the 3.3V rail stays at 0V. Sensors connected to the 3.3V rail will not power on unless a Pico is seated.

Best for

Raspberry Pi Pico sensor prototyping, MicroPython GPIO experiments, Pico W IoT builds, permanent enclosure installations, robotics GPIO wiring, and any Pico project that needs tidy access to all pins without a rats-nest of dupont wires on a bare board.
