HLK-LD2410C 24GHz FMCW Radar Human Presence Sensor — 6 Metre Range
The LD2410C detects human presence using 24GHz FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous wave) radar, distinguishing between stationary and moving occupants within 6 metres. Unlike PIR sensors which require movement, the LD2410C detects a sitting or sleeping person through micro-motion — breathing and subtle body movement — making it suitable for occupancy detection in offices, bedrooms, and meditation spaces. A UART interface outputs real-time presence and distance data with configurable sensitivity zones.

How does the LD2410C differ from a PIR sensor?
PIR sensors detect changes in infrared radiation from moving heat sources — they miss stationary people. The LD2410C uses radar to detect micro-motion from breathing and subtle body movement, so it correctly identifies a person sitting still at a desk or sleeping in a bed. This makes it suitable for smart lighting, HVAC occupancy control, and sleep monitoring where PIR would give false “vacant” readings.
