ENC28J60 Ethernet Network Module for Arduino
The ENC28J60 adds wired Ethernet connectivity to an Arduino Uno or Nano via SPI, giving your microcontroller a full TCP/IP network connection without a WiFi module. The chip implements the MAC and PHY layers up to 10Mbps and communicates over 4-wire SPI at up to 20MHz. The UIPEthernet or EtherCard libraries handle IP stack processing on the Arduino, supporting HTTP clients and servers, UDP, and DNS resolution.
- 10Mbps wired Ethernet — stable, no WiFi interference
- SPI interface — 4 wires, up to 20MHz clock
- Onboard RJ45 connector — standard Cat5/Cat6 cable
- 3.3V supply — level shifters on module for 5V Arduino compatibility
- MAC address set in software — programmable 6-byte address

Which library works with the ENC28J60 on Arduino?
The UIPEthernet library by ntruchsess provides a drop-in replacement for the Arduino Ethernet library API — most Ethernet shield code runs on ENC28J60 with just a library swap. The EtherCard library by JeeLabs is lighter and faster, better suited for memory-constrained Nano builds. Both are in the Arduino Library Manager.
Best for
Arduino web servers, wired IoT sensor nodes, home network data loggers, network-triggered relay controllers, and any project needing reliable wired network connectivity where WiFi interference is a concern.
