AP3216 Ambient Light and Proximity Sensor Module — I2C (CJMCU-3216)
The AP3216 combines an ambient light sensor (ALS) and an infrared proximity detector in a single I2C chip, adding screen auto-brightness and hand proximity detection to microcontroller projects with one module and two wires. The ALS reports illuminance in lux (0–65535 lux range) and the proximity detector measures reflected IR intensity from objects within approximately 10cm. Both channels read independently or simultaneously from a single I2C bus at address 0x1E.
- Ambient light sensor — 0–65535 lux, 16-bit resolution
- Proximity detector — IR LED and phototransistor, up to 10cm range
- Single I2C address 0x1E — one module, two sensors
- 2.5V–3.6V supply — direct ESP32 and 3.3V MCU connection
- Interrupt output pin — triggers on threshold crossing without polling
