1.8 Inch TFT LCD Module 128x160 for Arduino
This 1.8 inch TFT LCD module drives a 128x160 pixel colour display via 4-wire SPI using the ST7735S controller. It runs on 3.3V logic and connects natively to ESP32 and ESP8266 boards; a simple level shifter on the SPI lines makes it compatible with 5V Arduino Uno boards. The module includes a micro SD card socket on the back sharing the SPI bus with a dedicated CS line.
- ST7735S driver, 128x160 pixels — 65K colour (16-bit RGB565)
- 4-wire SPI interface — MOSI, SCK, CS, DC, optional RST
- Micro SD card slot — shared SPI bus, separate CS line
- 3.3V logic — direct connection to ESP32, level shift for Uno
- Backlight pin (BL) — PWM-dimmable for power saving

Which library works with the ST7735S on Arduino?
The Adafruit ST7735 library covers this display on Arduino and ESP32. Bodmer's TFT_eSPI library is faster on ESP32 — it uses SPI DMA for smooth animation at up to 40MHz. Both are in the Arduino Library Manager. Select the INITR_BLACKTAB or INITR_GREENTAB initialiser to match your specific module revision.
Does a 5V Arduino Uno need a level shifter for this display?
Yes. The ST7735S accepts 3.3V logic only. A 4-channel bidirectional level shifter on MOSI, SCK, CS, and DC protects the driver IC from 5V signals. The SD card SPI lines also require 3.3V.
Best for
Arduino sensor dashboards, ESP32 IoT status screens, handheld game consoles, weather station displays, GPS readouts, retro graphics projects, and builds needing a small colour display without a touchscreen.
