900M-T Tips: One Format, Ten Shapes, Sold Singly
40-44 mm | 4.1 mm ID, 6.5 mm OD | Oxygen-free copper, nickel plated | Fits 936-style stations
The 900M is the tip format most 936-style soldering stations use, which is why one box of these covers a bench running several different brands. Each shape is sold on its own, so you buy the geometry you actually reach for rather than a set with six tips you will never fit.

900M, 902 or C245?
Three different formats, and they are not interchangeable. Worth thirty seconds before you order.
| 900M-T | 902 | C245 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heater location | Separate, in the handle | Separate, in the handle | Built into the cartridge |
| Heat-up | Normal | Normal | 2-3 seconds |
| Cost per tip | Lowest | Low | Higher |
| Typical station | 936-style, YIHUA 937D and 939 | YIHUA 902-series irons | YIHUA 982, 982-V, JBC-compatible |
We stock all three: 902-series tips and C245 cartridges. There is a fuller comparison in our C210 vs C245 vs 900M tips guide.
Making Them Last
- Keep solder on the tip: Tin it as soon as it is up to temperature and re-tin every ten to fifteen joints. The solder is an oxygen barrier, and black oxide is what kills heat transfer.
- Work at 200 to 350°C: Leaded solder is happy at 280 to 320°C, lead-free at 320 to 350°C. Running at 480°C all day degrades the plating for no benefit.
- Brass wool only: Never sandpaper, never a file. Abrasives take the nickel plating off in seconds and the copper underneath oxidises immediately.
- Deal with oxide straight away: Brass wool or tip cleaner compound, then re-tin. Once oxide builds up the tip stops transferring heat and people blame the station.
- Store them tinned and dry: A coat of solder and a dry drawer. Tips corrode sitting idle just as happily as in use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will these fit my soldering iron?
They fit any station that takes the 900M format, which covers most 936-style irons made since about 2010. Measure the heating element barrel: it should accept a tip with a 4.1 mm inner diameter and a 6.5 mm outer diameter, 40 to 44 mm long. That includes the YIHUA 937D+, 939, 926LED, 928D, 995D, 853D and 938BD-II, plus Hakko 936, 937 and 928 series, ATTEN AT936B, QUICK 203H, Aoyue 936, TENMA 21-10130 and Maplin A47KT. No adapter needed.
What are the 900M-T tip dimensions?
40 to 44 mm long, 4.1 mm inner diameter and 6.5 mm outer diameter. That is the standard 900M sizing, which is what makes one tip inventory work across several station brands.
Which tip should I buy if I am only buying one?
The 900M-T-B chisel. A flat edge transfers heat evenly across a pin row and works for both through-hole and surface-mount, so it covers the majority of general electronics. Add the I for fine SMD and a 2.4D or 3C when you meet a joint that will not take heat.
What does the number in 1.2D, 1.6D, 2.4D and 3.2D mean?
It is the width of the working face in millimetres. Match it roughly to your pad size. A wider face holds more solder and carries more heat, which is what you want on a big joint and what you do not want on a fine one.
Are these the same as C245 or 902 tips?
No. 900M is a tip that slides over a separate heating element in the handle. C245 cartridges have the heating element built into the tip itself, which is why they heat and recover faster and cost more. The 902 series is another YIHUA format again. Check what your station takes before ordering.
How long does a tip last?
Longer than most people get out of one, and it comes down to three habits. Keep solder on it, never let it sit bare at temperature. Work at 200 to 350°C rather than winding it up to 480°C. Clean on brass wool only, because one pass with sandpaper or a file takes the nickel plating off and the copper underneath oxidises straight away.
