Arduino CNC Shield V3.0 — GRBL Compatible 4-Axis Stepper Driver Board
The Arduino CNC Shield V3.0 turns an Arduino Uno into a 4-axis stepper motor controller for CNC machines, laser engravers, and 3D printers. It runs GRBL 0.9 and later firmware directly on the Uno without modification, and the four stepper driver sockets accept DRV8825 or A4988 modules for X, Y, Z, and an optional A-axis. Micro-stepping is set per axis by jumper pads on the board — no firmware changes required to switch between 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, or 1/32 stepping.
- GRBL 0.9+ compatible — works with GRBL, bCNC, Universal Gcode Sender out of the box
- 4 stepper driver sockets — X, Y, Z, and A-axis
- Micro-stepping jumpers — up to 1/32 step with DRV8825 drivers
- Limit switch headers — X, Y, Z min/max positions
- Spindle and coolant control pins — for laser or spindle speed via PWM

Does the CNC Shield V3.0 work with GRBL?
Yes. Flash GRBL to an Arduino Uno using the Arduino IDE (File > Examples > GRBL > grblUpload), seat the CNC Shield on top, and the board is ready for G-code commands via USB serial. No shield-specific configuration is needed — GRBL maps its pin outputs to the shield headers automatically.
Which stepper drivers fit the CNC Shield V3.0?
The standard 16-pin Pololu-footprint drivers fit directly: A4988 (1/16 step max) and DRV8825 (1/32 step max). TMC2208 and TMC2209 modules fit with a direction pin swap in GRBL configuration. DRV8825 drivers with heatsinks are stocked separately at Kunkune.
Best for
DIY laser engravers, Arduino CNC routers, pen plotters, foam cutters, desktop milling machines, 3D printer motion control boards, and GRBL learning projects.
Why Kunkune
