Rain Water and Snow Detection Sensor Module for Arduino
The rain detection module uses exposed copper traces on a PCB to detect water droplets — rain or snow melt bridges the traces, increasing conductivity and lowering the LM393 comparator output from HIGH to LOW. Sensitivity is adjustable via an onboard potentiometer, and the analogue output provides the raw conductivity voltage for quantifying wetness level beyond a simple on/off trigger. The sensing pad is separate from the control board, connected by a header, so you can position the pad outdoors while keeping the electronics sheltered.
- Detects rain and snow melt — conductive water bridges sensing traces
- Digital output (DO) — active low when rain detected, LM393
- Analogue output (AO) — proportional wetness level
- Adjustable sensitivity — onboard potentiometer
- Separate sensing pad and control board — remote outdoor mounting
- 3.3V–5V supply
Best for
Automatic windscreen wiper triggers, greenhouse vent closers, smart umbrella alerts, irrigation system rain sensors, car sunroof auto-close systems, weather station precipitation detectors, and outdoor humidity experiments.
